In November 2021, a research expedition was launched within the GFCM BLACKSEA4FISH project "Scientific Rapa whelk beam trawl survey at sea in Bulgarian waters",  including data collection for assessment of the state of Rapa whelk stock along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. During the field activities, the entire Bulgarian coast will be explored at depths of 5 to 45 meters.

The information collected will be used by the GFCM to adequately manage Rapa whelk in the Black Sea, following an assessment of the effectiveness of existing and potentially applicable management measures.
